Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has extended warm felicitations to mothers in the Catholic faith on the occasion of Mother’s Day, praising their enduring contributions to family life and community development.

In a message marking the celebration, the Governor paid tribute to women across all expressions of motherhood, including biological, adoptive, foster, and caregiving roles, noting that their sacrifices and devotion continue to shape society in profound ways.

Governor Okpebholo described mothers as the backbone of homes and communities, stressing that their resilience, dedication, and nurturing spirit remain central to the growth, stability, and future of Edo State.

He stated that his administration’s SHINE Agenda, which focuses on Security, Health, Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Agriculture, and Education, is aimed at improving the quality of life for women and families across the state.

According to him, ongoing investments in healthcare, security, and education are designed to create safer communities, expand access to essential services, and ensure that mothers can raise their children in dignity.

The Governor acknowledged the strength of mothers who continue to navigate economic and social challenges, describing their perseverance as a stabilising force in homes and society.

He called on residents to honour mothers not only with words, but through meaningful actions, including care, support, and sustained engagement.

Governor Okpebholo also expressed solidarity with mothers who have lost children and families passing through grief, noting that their pain remains part of the shared human experience that binds communities together.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies and programmes that prioritise the welfare, safety, and empowerment of women, stressing that sustainable development is closely linked to the well-being of mothers and families.
