Venus: A Scorching, Toxic World Beyond Imagination!

Venus, the second planet from the Sun, is an extreme world. Its surface temperature reaches a staggering 475°C (900°F)—hot enough to melt lead! Surprisingly, this makes Venus even hotter than Mercury, which is closer to the Sun. The culprit behind this intense heat is the thick atmosphere of Venus, made up of over 96% carbon dioxide, triggering a runaway greenhouse effect that traps heat.

Not only is Venus scorchingly hot, but its atmosphere is also one of the most inhospitable in the solar system. Winds in the upper layers of the atmosphere can reach up to 350 km/h (220 mph), and the clouds are made of corrosive sulfuric acid. The atmospheric pressure is a crushing 92 times that of Earth, equivalent to being 900 meters underwater!

Exploring Venus has been challenging. Soviet Venera probes attempted to land on the surface, but most of them only survived for a few minutes before succumbing to the heat and pressure. These factors make Venus an extremely difficult planet to study, but they also make it one of the most fascinating objects in our solar system.
