Tunji Disu, the new Inspector-General of Police, has inaugurated an eight-member committee to oversee the implementation of state police in Nigeria.

The committee, inaugurated on Wednesday, will be led by Professor Olu Ogunsakin, a scholar of police studies.

The move comes amid ongoing efforts by the federal government to address rising insecurity across the country.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu, on multiple occasions, pledged that his administration would establish state police as part of broader security reforms.
