BENIN CITY — A former two-term Chairman of Egor Local Government Council, Hon. Crosby Eribo, has formally declared his intention to contest the Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Eribo, who is seeking the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made his intention known during a meeting with party leaders, stating that his ambition is driven by a desire to provide effective and quality representation for the constituency, which he said has lagged in that regard.
He pledged that, if elected, he would pursue purposeful legislation aimed at attracting sustainable growth and development to the area.
According to him, this would be achieved through active collaboration with the leadership of the House of Representatives to advance good governance in the constituency.
Reflecting on his tenure as council chairman, Eribo noted that he maximised limited resources to improve the lives of residents, adding that his achievements remain difficult for his successors to surpass.
He also recalled his previous attempt to serve at the state level, stating that he and his colleagues were denied the opportunity to be sworn in as members of the Edo State House of Assembly during the administration of former Governor Godwin Obaseki, despite being duly elected.
Appealing to party leaders for their support, Eribo assured that he would deploy his experience to enact laws that would drive rapid development and transformation in the constituency.
He identified youth and women empowerment, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development as priority areas, adding that he would work closely with the state government and other stakeholders to deliver on these goals.
Eribo also promised to operate an open-door policy, ensuring accessibility and responsiveness to constituents’ concerns.
He said his constituency office would serve as a hub for engagement and problem-solving.
Leaders of the APC in Egor Local Government Area, including ward chairmen, unit heads, youth and women representatives, unanimously endorsed his candidacy, citing his track record and commitment to grassroots development.
