ABUJA — The Nigeria Police Force has launched a digital platform, the NPF Vigilant App, to enhance the reporting of suspected financial fraud and strengthen interaction between the police and members of the public.
The Force also unveiled the NPF–MTN Closed User Group (CUG) Network, designed to provide police personnel across the country with secure and affordable communication services to improve emergency coordination and operational response.
The initiatives were formally launched by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, at the NPF Conference Centre, Jabi, Abuja.
Speaking at the event, the Inspector-General described the two platforms as practical measures in the Force’s ongoing digital transformation programme, stressing their potential to improve policing and strengthen communication.
Disu said the Vigilant App would provide an improved channel for members of the public to engage with the police, particularly in reporting suspected financial fraud, while the CUG Network would enhance communication among police officers.
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Information and Communication Technology, Fayoade Mustapha, said the initiatives demonstrated the Force’s commitment to deploying technology-driven solutions to improve service delivery and strengthen public engagement.
According to him, the digital innovations would provide more efficient mechanisms for citizens to communicate with the police while also supporting personnel in carrying out their operational responsibilities.
He urged Nigerians to download the NPF Vigilant App from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and use the platform responsibly to report suspected cases of financial fraud.
The Vigilant App enables citizens to submit reports of suspected fraud, upload supporting evidence, track the progress of their cases and receive feedback from the relevant authorities.
The NPF–MTN CUG Network, on the other hand, is expected to provide police officers nationwide with secure and affordable on-net communication, thereby facilitating faster information sharing, emergency coordination and operational response.
The latest development is part of efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to leverage digital technology to strengthen its relationship with the public, improve crime reporting mechanisms and enhance the efficiency of policing operations across the country.
