Enyimba FC Chairman, FIFA Ambassador Kanu Nwankwo has lifted the spirits of the team with a rousing address ahead of Saturday’s NPFL clash against Doma United in Gombe.
The 2-time African Player of the Year spoke to the players after an intensive final training session on Tuesday at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba.
Kanu praised the team for their performance in Minna and expressed optimism that the People’s Elephant will get a good result in Gombe.
“I’ve watched the friendly games and I noticed that you are united; you attack and defend as a unit. Everyone of us is behind you. We are doing so because you performed well. If we did not, we would get negative reports. It depends on you to prove them wrong,” he said.
The Chairman addressed the noise around the team, challenging the players to use it as fuel.
“This is a challenge to all of you. Don’t look at people’s comments and faces. People are saying we don’t have a team. They said our fine performance in the friendly games is a fluke. That is a challenge for you.
I am here to encourage you and to tell you that we are behind you no matter what people are saying outside. I will do whatever I can to make you happy, focused and deliver,” he promised.
Speaking on behalf of the players, Stanley Dimgba thanked the Chairman, noting that his presence is always a morale booster.
“I know we will make you proud. I know we will go far. I believe we will never come back empty-handed from Gombe,” he said, drawing thunderous applause from teammates.
Enyimba FC will face Doma United on Saturday in Gombe, in their second Euromatch NPFL encounter of the season.
