Nigeria’s Flamingos will observe a rest day today (Tuesday) as the team steps up preparations for the next phase of the WAFU B U17 Women’s tournament.
The players have been given a break from training to allow them to recover physically and mentally before resuming work tomorrow ahead of their semifinal crucial encounter with hosts Côte d’Ivoire.
The Flamingos will return to training on Wednesday, with attention now firmly focused on Thursday’s fixture against Côte d’Ivoire.
The match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. local time (7:00 p.m. Nigerian time) on Thursday, September 24, as both teams battle for a place in the next stage of the competition.
Head coach, Hakeem Busari and his technical crew are expected to use Wednesday’s training session to fine-tune the team’s tactical approach while assessing the players’ fitness and readiness for the decisive encounter.
With Côte d’Ivoire enjoying home support, the Flamingos will be looking to maintain their composure and build on their performances in the tournament so far.
The Nigerian side will also be hoping to avoid injuries and ensure the players are fully refreshed as preparations intensify for what promises to be a demanding contest.
