More than 500 youths in Edo State have renounced their membership of various cult groups at a mass ceremony organized by the state government in Benin City.
The participants also took an oath of dissociation, pledging to cut ties with their former groups and abandon cult-related activities.
The ceremony was held on Monday, October 12, as part of efforts by the government of Governor Monday Okpebholo to tackle cultism and youth-related violence.
The event was organised by the State Special Security Squad to encourage young people to embrace peaceful and law-abiding lives.
The initiative forms part of the state government’s broader campaign to improve security and curb cult-related violence across Edo communities.
