Passengers using the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses recently introduced by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to ease transportation challenges have commended the initiative, describing it as a welcome relief for residents.
One of the passengers, Madam Jane Omosede, expressed appreciation to the governor for his efforts to improve the welfare of the people, saying the intervention was helping the masses.
“On my own, I appreciate the governor for what he is doing. He is trying for the masses. He is really helping us,” she said.
Similarly, Mr David Imohimi described the buses as a positive development, praising the government for the initiative.
“The bus is very okay. This is wonderful and very okay. The government has done excellently,” he said, while calling for improved coordination and wider availability of payment cards to make access to the service easier for passengers.
An engineer, Sule Danladi, also commended the governor for providing the buses to address transportation difficulties but appealed for better boarding arrangements to enable commuters to reach their workplaces on time.
“The government has tried and done its own part by bringing us these buses. But this coordination, I appeal to the government to improve,” he said.
The passengers spoke in separate interviews at Ramat Park in Benin City, where they acknowledged the benefits of the CNG bus initiative while suggesting measures to improve service delivery.
They expressed optimism that better coordination and adequate availability of payment cards would further enhance the commuting experience and enable more residents to benefit from the intervention.
