The Presidency has debunked reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu has converted from Islam to Christianity.
In a viral 8-minute video shared on social media by the Special Assistant to Tinubu on Social Media, Segun Dada, the President is alleged to have joined the Christian religion at a church gathering.
Olusegun described the viral report as false and urged Nigerians to ignore the video circulating online about Tinubu’s religion.
In a statement shared on Thursday through his X account, Olusegun said the President has always practised Islam and there has been no change in his faith.
He explained that Tinubu’s family has long reflected religious understanding, as the President is a Muslim while his wife is a Christian pastor. According to him, the arrangement in the President’s home shows peaceful coexistence between different faiths and not any form of religious crisis or conversion.
The presidential aide said Tinubu has continued to support his wife’s Christian faith while remaining committed to Islam. He added that the President promotes unity among Nigerians regardless of religion.
He wrote, “Please disregard the video circulating claiming PBAT has converted. It is a lie…
“President Tinubu has always been a Muslim, while proudly supporting his wife, who is a Pastor. This unique interfaith harmony in his own home is what he brings to national leadership, which is unity and not conversion.”
